My bug is a 1973 Super Beetle, she was born in July. Her nickname is Allie, after my wife.

I acquired her about 24 years ago. She was found left on the streets, towed to an impound yard. I traded my 1969 Harley sportster for her. She was in bad shape.

My sons did the body work. A friend of theirs painted her my wife's favorite color lavender. I replaced the top and reupholstered the seats. I put a rebuilt motor in, new clutch, fuel lines, brakes, rubbers, and rugs. The hardest part to find was the rear side window crank. Just found it this year on eBay.

My whole family has enjoyed riding in style. Every time we take her out, people comment on how awesome she is. She's one of a kind. Will keep her always. Thanks for letting me share her story.
