1967 VW Beetle

Warren Huskey

This is my seventh and final forever Bug, Frida!

I purchased my ‘67 Bug from a former coworker who had it in his family for 40+ years. The original owner purchased this car in 1969 on Whidbey Island, WA. He was a Capt. in the Navy and was stationed there. He had it shipped to the Philippines during the Vietnam War where he was stationed . He came back with the car and eventually his daughter drove it while in college at the University of Washington, and she had it painted red. After she graduated, he replaced the stock 1500 engine with a new 1600ccDP, and repainted it back to the original Savannah Beige in 1988.

His daughter's husband occasionally drove the car to work, where I first noticed it in the parking lot back in 2010. I told him if he ever wanted to sell it to let me know and I would buy it. So, a couple of years later, when his daughter was of legal driving age, 16, he thought the car was not safe enough for her to learn in, and he sold it to me in 2013.

This vintage VW daily driver is still stock with all original interior, and virtually unmolested except for the swapped engine and the custom roof rack I purchased from Tin Can Motorsports. I've acquired all the restoration parts from JBugs for when I retire in a couple of years to bring her back to life.
