The Bosch 6500 RPM Rev Limiting VW Ignition Rotor is an economical and safe way to protect your engine from over revving due to a missed shift, stuck throttle cable or linkage. The rotor installs as a normal rotor would and pushes on to the distributor shaft inside the cap. The rotor spins around inside the cap where it contacts the center post which gets power from the coil and sends power to the individual spark plug posts on the cap. Your engine will run smoothly all the way up to 6500 RPM. The rev limiting rotor shuts down the electrical path for the points so it is not compatible with an electronic ignition points replacement which uses a magnetic signal to trigger the spark. The ignition rotor fits original distributors in 1969 through 1977 Beetles, 1971 through 1979 Super Beetles, 1969 through 1974 Karmann Ghias, 1969 through 1979 Type 2 Bus models and 1973 through 1974 Things. The rotor also fits the common centrifugal advance 0231 178 009 (double O nine) distributor. (Bosch number 04023)
