VW IRS Trailing Arm Rear Suspension has been a staple of off roading since VW first offered it starting in the late 60s. The Independent Rear Suspension, with it's limited camber change, is ideal for Dune Buggies and Baja Bugs.
We offer 3x3 extended 3 inch longer, 3 inch wider trailing arms for those that want increased track width and wheel travel. For those running stock trailing arms we have the IRS box kit that is welded in place to strengthen the stock VW unit.
Heavy duty spring plates, urethane spring plates and torsion housing caps are available in a number of different lengths and styles to suit any torsion bar length and housing style. Axle spacers, seals and bearings are available to replace or rebuild your VW rear end.
Beefing up the arms on your Sand Rail or building new suspension for your Off Road Buggy?
Torsion Bars are the rear springs for VW based off road buggies. Torsion bars twist and use the torsional force to suspend the vehicle. We offer 21 3/4", 24 11/16" and 29 9/16" torsion bars in diameters from 24 to 30mm. A longer torsion bar will have a softer ride than a shorter torsion bar of the same diameter. A larger diameter torsion bar is stiffer than a smaller torsion bar.
Spring Plates are the main link for the rear suspension, connecting the torsion bar to the trailing arm.
If you're building arms from scratch or just doing a little R&R on your Baja Buggy or Sand Rail, don't neglect the bearings which can take a lot of abuse off roading!
