Swing Axle Rear Suspension is very common on Sand Rails, Dune Buggys and as required by class rules, Off Road Racing 9 Class Cars. The swing axle rear suspension is easily identifiable by only having an axle boot at the transmission and not at the wheel.
We offer the swing axle boots in different colors and have original VW swing axle boots. We have bearings, seals, axle spacers and bearing caps to replace your worn or missing pieces.
Spring plates connect the torsion bars to the swing axle tubes. The stock VW plates are prone to bending when off roading. We offer heavy duty spring plates and urethane spring plate bushings to replace and upgrade the stock components.
Axle Tubes, Bearings, Housings & Caps
Swing Axle Transmissions have a solid tube that pivots with the suspension as it moves causing camber change which can be extreme in off road cars.
Swing Axle Boots
Swing Axle or axle boots are flexing, working seal and can weaken over time exposing the internal gears of your off road buggy to the elements.
Chromoly Torsion Bars
Torsion Bars are the rear springs for VW based off road buggies. Torsion bars twist and use the torsional force to suspend the vehicle. We offer 21 3/4", 24 11/16" and 29 9/16" torsion bars in diameters from 24 to 30mm. A longer torsion bar will have a softer ride than a shorter torsion bar of the same diameter. A larger diameter torsion bar is stiffer than a smaller torsion bar.
Spring Plates & Bushings
The spring plates on a Swing Axle take extra abuse on off road vehicles as they not only hold the rear up, they twist with the axle tubes.
