Ignition components provide the spark that makes your dune buggy engine run. Make sure all of your ignition components are in good working shape. It's also not a bad idea to have a few spares around as a small problem with your ignition can ruin an off road outing. We offer a full line of ignition parts to ensure that doesn't happen.
Aftermarket distributors are available to suit most any engine and carburetor combination. Distributors with a vacuum advance will have a smoother acceleration curve than a centrifugal distributor but can only be used with carburetors that have a suitable vacuum port. We offer distributors with original style points and condensers or with electronic points replacement ignitions.
Bosch points, condensers, caps, rotors, plugs, wires and aftermarket drop in points replacement kits are all available to ensure your ignition is in tip top shape. We also offer Bosch and high voltage coils as well as brackets to hold them securely.
Distributors & Distributor Clamps
Distributors are a relatively simple item to change, there is only one bolt holding them in place. The distributor is the main component of your dune buggy ignition system. It takes power from the coil and sends it to the spark plugs.
Electronic Ignition Kits
Replace the ancient point and condenser system with an electronic ignition kit for easy starting and better performance.
Coils, Brackets, Covers & Mounts
The ignition coil provides the high voltage spark that fire the spark plugs. We offer stock Bosch coils and high performance coils, mounts and covers for the coil.
Spark Plug Wires
Spark Plug wire sets are available from Bosch as well as other manufactures if you are looking for colored plug wires. We also offer various spark plug wire separators to keep the wires from shorting out.
Bosch and NGK spark plugs are available in 12mm and 14mm thread sizes and come in 1/2 and 3/4" reach lengths.
We offer Bosch stock replacement caps as well as the translucent colored caps. Keep in mind the brittle colored caps are prone to cracking so keep a spare Bosch cap just in case!
Bosch rotors transfer power in the distributor from the coil post to the appropriate cylinder post. For those with a heavy foot, the rev-limiting rotors will keep the engine from over revving.
Tried and true and in some cases the only option for older VW distributors, ignition points open and close telling the coil when to fire.
The condenser is a vital part of a points based ignition system. It is basically a capacitor, storing and also absorbing the coils voltage charge. The condenser hooks to the negative side of the coil and the points are attached to it.
