Tamara van der Heyden's 1969 Karmann Ghia Convertible

1969 Karmann Ghia Convertible

Tamara van der Heyden

This is my 1969 Karmann Ghia. This has been the car of my dreams since I was 15 years old (around 1986). Fast forward to 2020. A lifelong family friend had a stroke and needed to sell his personal items for hospital expenses, my Father immediately contacted me so I could buy it from him and "keep it in the family". My husband and I flew to California and drove it home to Washington state. Being able to drive this beauty, top down, all along the 101 was a once in a lifetime trip. We took our time and enjoyed every minute of it.

Buying this car has fulfilled (close to a lifelong) dream and has brought me closer to the person I purchased her from. She now resides at our Arizona residence where, hopefully, I will receive my Jbug shipments faster due to the location :) and I can enjoy her more throughout the year.

Our friend has not fully recovered from his stroke but I send him photos and videos so he can see how well she is cared for.

Side note: My husband has never driven her and knows he probably never will. He accepted that a long time ago. :)
