Dustin Bennett's 1968 Beetle

1968 Beetle

Dustin Bennett

My father is the one who restored this beautiful 1968 Beetle with a 1776cc motor. This is the 3rd Beetle I've owned. The last one I had, I thought for sure that it was going to be it. I began to come to terms with the horrible, nightmarish fact that I would have to learn how to drive a modern car, and what a sad time given the low mileage on the motor.

This Bug is very special to me. The paint job is my father's design and he did an unbelievably amazing job with putting this car together. A friend of his had purchased the car and never gotten around to do anything with it. The car had been broken down and was in pieces waiting to be restored. I had almost drove the wheels off my 1972 Super Beetle, being an everyday driver for me for ten plus years. He used whatever parts he could from my Super Beetle to built this car.

I was thinking about selling it a few years ago but I just can't and frankly don't want to because I get so much joy from driving it and working on it. My father passed away in 2019 and I have to say that I miss having a family mechanic. I could give him a call and explain my issue and within a day or two I would have an answer.
