Hi, Sam here with JBugs.com. Now that EMPI is selling both magnesium-cased and aluminum-cased engines—available in 1600cc, 1776cc, and 1914cc options with an aluminum case or magnesium case—personally, I like magnesium cases. That's what Volkswagen used originally. The castings are much cleaner, the engine tin fits much better, and the case itself is considerably lighter than it would be in aluminum. All the aluminum-cased engines have a stock crankshaft and a standard weight flywheel. All of the magnesium-cased engines come with a counterweighted crank and a lightened flywheel. All the aluminum-case engines will have black valve covers. All the magnesium-case engines come with stainless steel valve covers. All the engines are built by Jack Sacchette—one guy builds every single one of EMPI's engines. They come with a 12-month, 12,000-mile warranty. They come pre-crated and shipped directly from EMPI to your door, and they're a great option for those that need a replacement for their engine. You can buy them online with us at JBugs.com.
