The factory replacement muffler fits 1975 to 1979 VW Type 2 Bus models and 1980 through 1983 Vanagons with air cooled engines. The Bus muffler has a single outlet on the right hand side. The muffler is made in Europe and comes painted with a grey primer that will burn off in time. We offer the stock replacement muffler individually or with the tail pipe, gaskets and hardware to finish the installation.

The tail pipe is sold separately from the muffler, as is the tail pipe installation kit. Both are needed to finish the muffler installation.



Note, the mufflers are not painted and are imported, unboxed and strapped in bundles so they arrive to us with minor dings,dents and scratches.

The surface imperfections do not affect the fit and performance of the muffler, but be aware the muffler will most likelyhave them.


Beginner Tips:

Exhausts leaks can cause a number of problems with your VW engine from lost performance to engine damage. Make sure your exhaust system is sealed properly!

Grey Primer is only a rust inhibitor!

If the grey primer is not removed before installation, it will burn off in a few hours. We recommend stripping the muffler with a good solvent or sanding the paint off and then painting the muffler with a high quality, High-Temperature Exhaust Paint. None of our exhaust components are warrantied against rust.
