This VW Fuel Tap fits Beetles and Karmann Ghias from 1956 to 1961 and features a reserve valve. Early model VWs did not have a fuel gauge so VW wisely had a reserve tank outlet so when the fuel ran low, the lever could be turned to allow the remaining fuel in the tank, the reserved fuel, could be used to get you to the next filling station. Then you had to remember to turn the lever back when the tank was filled so the next time the tank went low you'd still have the reserve. The fuel tap includes sealing gasket washers, an in tank filter and the filler nut collar. The fuel tap has 18x1.0mm threads and has a turn style control which connects to the original foot operated reserve lever.
