The VW engine crank pulley mounts to the engine crankshaft and drives the generator or alternator and cooling fan. The stock diameter crank pulley works with 6 or 12 volt systems. The pulleys currently come without any timing marks. Top dead center is located 90 degrees clockwise from the center of the crank keyway slot of the pulley.
The outer diameter of this pulley is roughly 7"/177mm. Coupled with a standard upper pulley with an outer diameter of 4.25"/108mm, the pulley ratio would be approximately 1 to 1.64, meaning the fan will turn 1.64 times every time the crank makes one full revolution, which is very close to the factory ratio.
