The New VW Dual Port Intake Manifold will fit all Dual Port 1600cc and larger engines using stock heads and includes heat risers. The carburetor base flange will accept both stock VW dual port (34PICT) and single port (30 or 31PICT) carburetors. We recommend installing new manifold boots with any new intake manifold. The boots are available in the additional options tab. The heat riser tubes are not attached to the manifold. They insert into tubes underneath the manifold at either side and attach to the heat riser ports on the exhaust. The tubes may need to be bent slightly to line up with the exhaust.
The replacement dual port style intake manifold is easier to install than original manifolds due to having a slightly shorter than original cross tube and removeable heat riser tubes so removing the end castings and the generator or alternator stand isn't required to remove or install it.Please Note: Where ever you source your intake manifold, make sure you check the fitment! The cross tube from end casting to end casting should be measure 16.75" to 17.75" across. The variation being that the intake manifold can in some cases slightly enter into each end casting.
The heat riser tubes may need to be bent slightly to line up with the heat riser ports on the exhaust.
Once the heat risers are installed, high temp RTV can be used to seal the tubes to the intake manifold base.
The heat risers and tube ports are not interconnected to the carburetor ports. The tubes are isolated from each other
Trimming Recommendations:
32mm (1 1/4") off the 3-4 (left) side intake tube
48mm (1 7/8") off the 3-4 (left) side heat riser tube
We whole heartedly wish this wasn't the case but until the supplier runs through their incorrect stock or demands a better product, this is what is available to the industry. We are working as hard as possible to find another solution but for now trimming is required. We use a pipe cutter (the intake tube is 1 3/8" diameter) for the cleanest cut, but you can use a sawzall, hack saw, cut off wheel, etc.
Whereever you source your intake manifold, make sure you check the fitment! The cross tube from end casting to end casting should be measure roughly 16.75" to 17.75" across. The variation being that the intake manifold can and should slightly enter into each end casting.
