The 3 Prong VW Brake Light Switch Plug makes it easy to quickly plug in all 3 wires from the mast cylinder harness into the brake light switch. The plug has 3 slots, the
two parallel slots (the two that are lined up at either side) are for the power into the switch from the fuse box, and the power out of the switch to the brake lights. The
top slot is for the Brake Warning Light wire. The plugs must be used with appropriately terminated wire terminal ends, they must have a locking tab to hold them in place.
The 3 prong plugs were first used by VW in 1969 when they switched dual circuit master cylinders from three, 2 pronged switches to two, 3 pronged switches. They 3 prong
plugs can be used on 2 prong switches as the terminal placement for the 2 prongs is the same on both switches. As such, the Brake Light Switch Wiring Plugs can be used on
all VW models with pronged brake light switches. They can not be used on early model, screw terminal switches.
