Fuel Tank for 1971-1974 Super Beetle

Fits 1971-1974 Super Beetles and 1971-1974 Super Beetle Convertibles.
Accepts the stock sending unit
The stock filler port, filler vent and tank vent are located on the right side
Two vents at the left side.
Single outlet on the bottom of the fuel tank.

The fuel filler hose, replacement sending unit and seal and the gas tank to body seal can be added to the tank by selecting the Installation Kit above.

Clean the Gas Tank Before Installation

Fuel tanks should be thoroughly cleaned before installation. Some tanks are lined with cosmoline which can be cleaned out with MEK (Methyl-Ethyl-Ketone), ccetone or a similar solvent. Even if the tank is not lined, it is still important to clean out the tank. Manufacturing debris can clog your fuel lines, carburetor or fuel system!

Prior Front End Collision May Cause Clearance Issues

We occasionally see minor clearance issues with our replacement tanks at the fuel tank drain plug. In our experience the cause is past front end collision damage to the car. A large diameter socket can be used to open up the access hole at the bottom of the fuel tank well in the body. If you don't ever plan on removing the drain plug, the tank can be bolted in place with no issues and even then, unthreading the plug will still be possible as it will open up the hole as it is being unthreaded.

Fuel Hoses Sold Separately

The gas tank does not come with new fuel hoses. But, we do offer all of the fuel hoses you may need if you are replacing them while replacing your gas tank.

The fuel tank filler port vent uses the 17mm Vent Hose
The three fuel tank vent ports use the 3.5mm Vent Hose
The fuel tank outlet at the bottom of tank uses the 5mm Fuel Hose
