VW Turn Signal Switch - Aftermarket - Black - 1966-67 Beetle - Karmann Ghia

The VW turn signal switch wiring is a very simple, even with the 1966-67 switches controlling the headlight relay. 

There are different variations of the turn signal switch, so the wiring colors can vary.

Version 1 of the aftermarket turn signal switch wiring:

Black-Red (with pigtail) wire:
49a or "L" terminal on flasher relay, then to turn signal indicator in speedometer.
(wire terminal end needs to be changed to a 1/4" terminal)

White-Red wire:
Power to left turn signal junction connector block (Black-White factory wires)

Yellow-Red wire:
Power to right turn signal junction connector block (Black-Green factory wires)

Brown wire (with pigtail):
Ground terminal on body, then to 31 terminal on turn signal relay.

Red wire:
"S" terminal on headlight relay

Version 2 of the aftermarket turn signal switch wiring has:

Black Wire (with Blue pigtail):
49a or "L" terminal on flasher relay, then to turn signal indicator in speedometer.
(wire terminal end needs to be changed to a 1/4" terminal)

Black-White wire:
Power to left turn signal junction connector block (Black-White factory wires)

Black-Green wire:
Power to right turn signal junction connector block (Black-Green factory wires)

Brown-White wire (with White pigtail):
Ground terminal on body, then to 31 terminal on turn signal relay.

Brown wire:
"S" terminal on headlight relay

The original factory colors for the wires are:

Black White Green Wire (with Blue Wire attached):
49a OR "L" Terminal on Flasher Relay

Blue jumper Wire (from Black Wire):
Turn Signal Indicator in speedometer

Black wire with White Stripe: Power to left turn signals
Black wire with Green Stripe: Power to right turn signals
Brown wire with Jumper: Ground Terminal on Body to 31 Terminal on Turn Signal Relay
Brown wire with White Stripe: "S" Terminal on Headlight Relay
