The Engle FK-8 Cam is a great all-around cam for use with high-ratio, 1.4 or 1.5:1 rockers. Using ratio rockers removes a lot of the stress off of the valve train. Getting over .500" of lift with smaller ratio rockers would be next to impossible with stock lifters. The FK-8 cam pulls well from about 3000RPM to 6500 RPM and works best in 2000cc and larger engines. As this cam will lift .537", cylinder heads that can support that much flow will make the most out of the FK8 cam along with carbureting accordingly. Dual, 2 barrel carbs are recommended for maximum performance and an idle that is a little rougher than stock. Two, single barrel carbs will work, but the idle will be rougher still.
To wrap it up, this cam is a perennial favorite for 2000cc and larger that have good heads and dual 40/44 IDFs or HPMX carburetors. When using it with high ratio rockers it provides a wide power band and usable power. The lobe design along offers a quieter drivetrain than cams designed for 1.1 or 1.25:1 rockers. Using the FK-8 cam with 1.4 or 1.5 rockers allows for more performance, less wear, and longer engine life!
All Type 1 performance cams are 3 Bolt, "early style" or "flat cams" and fit Type 1,2 & 3, 1200cc(40hp) to 1600cc based engines. The cam
requires a separately sold, bolt-on cam gear and must be used with a "flat cam" style oil pump.
