EMPI's Bolt On Wide Track 5x205 Wide 5 Lug VW Rear Disc Brake Kit without parking brake fits Swing Axle equipped 1968 Beetles, Karmann Ghias & Type 3s as well as IRS equipped 1968 through 1977 Standard Beetles, 1971 through 1979 Super Beetles, 1968 through 1974 Karmann Ghias and 1968 through 1973 Type 3 models. This disc brake kit will give your classic VW a wider rear track width and the stopping power of modern brake technology. The disc brake kit includes 1" offset, double drilled 5x205 brake rotors, calipers, pads, mounting hardware, gaskets and instructions. You can choose from Stamped Steel Brake Caliper Brackets or "Heavy Duty" Cast Steel Brackets to mount the calipers to the axle housing. We recommend installing a large bore master cylinder when installing rear disc brakes because of the distance from the master cylinder and the larger diameter of the brake pistons in the calipers versus wheel cylinders.

Double drilled with 12x1.5 and 14x1.5mm Threads
Stamped or Cast Caliper Brackets

All brake parts must be thoroughly cleaned and disc brake grease must be used on all brake pad contact surfaces or brake squeak and vibration may occur

15" or larger wheels must be used with the disc brake kit. 14" wheels cannot be used.

A large bore master cylinder is recommended if converting to rear disc brakes.

Wide Track Rear Disc Brakes are perfect for off roaders or any VW project that is looking for a wider track width for the rear of their vehicle. The rotors have a 1" wide offset so they increase the width of the rear of the car. The parking brake equipped rear disc brakes also offer additional stopping power for those that want the extra insurance and performance that disc brakes offer. We recommend using a large bore master cylinder whenever installing rear disc brakes, regardless of whether or not you have front disc brakes.
