Engle 120 Performance Cam for Aircooled VW Engines

The Engle W120 is a "hot" street VW bug camshaft grind and is designed for 1.1 or 1.25 rockers.

• .397" Cam Lift
• .435" Valve Lift (1.1 Rockers)
• 294 degrees of advertised duration
• 253 degrees of duration at .050", on a 108 lobe center.

With more duration and slightly more lift than its little brother, the W110, this cam is designed to give more power at the top end while sacrificing low end performance. You can not use this with a stock carburetor. It will barely idle well with dual 1bbls or a centermount 2bbls. You really need dual, two barrel carburetors like the Weber IDF, EMPI HPMX, or similar style carburetors for this cam to behave at idle and under 1500 RPM.

This cam really needs some port work and/or larger displacement to work properly. Expect a powerband of 2000-6000 RPMs. The more headwork and carburetion the better the low end performance. If you use 1.25 rockers, you will extend the top end to 6300 RPM or so

Dual springs are required with 1.1s or 1.25 rockers. Use a compression ratio of 8.75-9.5:1.

Engle Performance VW Camshafts are made from Iron Billets and CNC-machined to ensure correct tolerances. The Engle 120 cam fits 1200cc (40 horse) through 1600cc based, VW Type 1, 2 and 3 engines. The camshaft is a flat-cam design and must be used with a flat-cam oil pump and a separately sold bolt-on cam gear. New lifters should be installed whenever installing a new camshaft. A tube of assembly lube is included with the cam.
