This EMPI 200mm clutch kit is compatible with 1971-1979 VW Beetle, Super Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Type 3, or Thing. This clutch kit will also fit a 1971 VW Bus or any other vehicle that has been modified with a Type 1 engine and a 200mm flywheel. It includes everything you need to replace your clutch with a single kit.

Clutch Fitment can be Tricky

The fitments listed above apply to the original, stock applications. However, the right clutch for your vehicle depends on the flywheel on the engine and Most classic VWs no longer have the original engine. Throughout the years, many things may or may not have been swapped out. If your vehicle has a Type 1 style engine with a 200mm flywheel, this clutch kit will work. A perfect example for this would be our all-new, EMPI long block engines that come with a 200mm flywheel. If you have a 1961 Beetle with brand new, EMPI long block engine, this clutch kit will fit. This clutch kit would not fit a stock 1961 Beetle with the original engine because it originally had a 180mm flywheel. But, this kit would fit because the engine has been changed.
