The engine tin is not designed for use with fuel injected engine compartments. While the tin may fit the fuel injected engine, there may be a large gap between the engine tin and the body.
This black rear engine tin without hoses and with heat risers, seals off excess exhaust heat from the engine compartment making your Air-Cooled Volkswagen that much cooler. Product fits most 1300cc-1600cc based applications.
Our Expert's Take:
When it comes to engine tin, we always prefer original VW tin to aftermarket tin. For our 1971 Super Beetle restoration, we had our pick of the warehouse for the most part, and we used all original engine tin. Sometimes getting ahold of original pieces isn't feasible so there is a place for aftermarket engine tin. Aftermarket tin does not fit as well as original tin, period. Trimming, clearancing and occasionally drilling may be required to get the engine tin components to mount to the engine and other engine tin pieces. With work, the tin can be made to fit and be effective, but do not expect an OEM fit.

If you have a 1975 and later fuel injected VW we recommend sourcing original tin from a junyard or other source of used parts.
