1954-1965 Beetle and 1956-1965 Karmann Ghia Front Suspension Kit

If your VW front end seems to wander around a bit or you dread every pothole and speed bump you come across, it might be time to rebuild your front end. We've put together a kit for 1954 through 1965 Beetles and 1956 through 1965 Karmann Ghia VW Link Pin Front Ends. The base kit includes Standard King & Link Pin sets, oil-filled shock absorbers, trailing arm seals, and front suspension stops. You can upgrade the shock absorbers to German King & Link Pins, KYB, Bilstein, Koni Adjustable, or Coil-over Shocks. The kit even offers shorter "lowered" shocks if you're car has been lowered further than the stock height shocks will accomodate.

Shock Absorbers:

Oil-filled shock absorbers are included in our suspension kit and are what VW originally installed. Our JBugs oil-filled shocks are OE quality. Gas shocks will provide a slightly stiffer ride and are what most vehicles today have. We offer KYB Excel-G and Gas-a-Just shocks, as well as Bilstein nitrogen-charged shocks, for stock-height applications. Coil Over shocks will add a bit of lift for sagging front ends .

Lowered shock absorbers are available for turned or adjustable front beams that need a shorter-than-stock shock. We offer JBugs oil-filled lowered shocks, EMPI oil- or gas-filled shocks, and KYB Excel-G shocks. Keep in mind, a "lowered" shock will not lower your car; it is merely a shorter-than-stock shock.

King Pin Bushings

Pressing the brass king pin bushings into the steel carrier "shrinks" the bushings. VW designed this "shrink to fit" and, along with the VW 224 reamer, to open the bushings up to the correct size for the king pin. An original or reproduction reamer (or a .710" reamer) must be used, or the kingpin WILL NOT fit into the bushing after it is installed.
