If your VW front end seems to wander around a bit or you dread every pothole and speed bump you come across, it might be time to rebuild your front
end. We've put together a completely customizable kit for 1966 through 1977 Standard Beetles and 1966 through 1974 Karmann Ghia VW Ball Joint
Front Ends. The base kit includes imported European upper and lower ball joints, oil-filled shock absorbers, and trailing arm seals. You can upgrade
to an EMPI clearanced or FEBI/Bilstein ball joints, and you can select from KYB, Bilstein, KONI adjustable, or coil-over shocks. Shorter "lowered"
shocks are available if your car has been lowered further than the stock-height shocks will accomodate.
1966 and later Standard Beetles and Karmann Ghias have a ball joint front end. Ball Joints must be pressed in (and out) of the trailing arms. The upper ball joint attaches to the spindle through an eccentric cam adjuster. We do sell the adjusters separately if you have lost or mistakenly discarded them. We offer Meyle, Febi/Bilstein, and EMPI clearanced ball joints, all of which are more than suitable replacements. The clearanced ball joints are great for extremely low or lifted front ends, as they allow more travel than stock ball joints.
Oil-filled shock absorbers are included in our suspension kit and are what VW originally installed. Our JBugs oil-filled shocks are as good as anything on the market. Gas shocks will provide a slightly stiffer ride and are what most vehicles today have. We offer KYB Excel-G and Gas-a-Just shocks, as well as Bilstein nitrogen-charged shocks, for stock-height applications. Coil Over shocks will add a bit of lift for sagging front ends .
Lowered shock absorbers are available for turned or adjustable front beams that need a shorter-than-stock shock. We offer our JBugs oil-filled lowered shocks, EMPI oil or gas shocks, and KYB Excel-G shocks. Keep in mind, a "lowered" shock will not lower your car; it is merely a shorter-than-stock shock.
