The 2 pole VDO oil pressure sender threads into the VW oil pressure port with an M10x1.0 thread size. The sending unit reads to 80 PSI for sending a signal to a separately sold VDO 80 PSI oil pressure gauge. The sending unit also has a contact for a warning light that turns on at roughly 7 PSI, meaning that if the oil pressure indicator light is on, your engine has less than 7 PSI of oil pressure at the switch.
This sending unit is designed to work with 80 PSI VDO gauges only and reads from 10-180 ohms. It operates by grounding out to the engine case. The sender unit has tapered threads, so PTFE tape or pipe sealant should not be used as it will interfere with the sending unit's ground to the engine case. The "G" terminal should be connected to the back of the pressure gauge, to the "S" or "G" terminal. The "WK" terminal should be connected to the negative side of the oil pressure warning light bulb.
If you replace the original oil switch with any of the two terminal VDO senders, YOUR OIL LIGHT WILL COME ON AT IDLE WHENEVER THE ENGINE GETS UP TO NORMAL TEMPERATURES.
The original style oil switches (021919081B) trigger the warning light when the oil pressure drops below roughly 4 psi. The VDO oil senders that have a terminal for the warning light will trigger the warning light when pressure drops below 10 psi. Due to this, the oil light will illuminate before your oil pressure is actually low. To correct this we advise installing part number (9205) so both the VDO sender and the original oil switch can be used in conjuction.
Once (9205) is installed in engine case and original oil switch and VDO sender are screwed into it, the wiring would be as follows. The wire for the warning light would still plug into the original switch. The G terminal of the VDO sender would connect to the oil pressure gauge. And we leave the WK terminal of the sender with nothing connected to it.
