1969 VW Karmann Ghia Convertible

Al Almeida

I bought this car in March 1984. I wanted a Porsche, but I bought a poor man's Porsche instead. Back in the 80's it was easier and cheaper to hot rod a VW than a Porsche so thats what I did.

This car was originally bought in New Orleans and I still have the owner's manual to prove it. Then it was taken to California where I bought it. It was originally an autoshift and I didn't like that. I changed it to a 4 speed by replacing the original pan to a 74 cherry pan. Then I did the rest: leather interior, 2276 Bus 4th super dif trans, revolution racing wheels 4 wheel disks, and a beautiful woodgrain painted dash.

This car is extremely fun to drive and is very fast. I have won many awards for my Ghia.
