1968 VW Karmann Ghia

Julius Rubin

My 1968 Poppy Red Karmann Ghia was delivered new on April 25, 1968 to Joseph Lakner of Pueblo, Colorado. Sally, as she is known, spent the next 45 years there until she eventually became a rusted out daily driver owned by a local teen.

An Air Force veteran bought Sally 5 years ago as a gift for his wife. He spent several years restoring the body and interior.

I purchased the car in September, 2020 and enlisted Tracy Tulloch of PiperBus Automotive in Clinton, CT, to replace the transaxle, clutch, and flywheel. She sorted out the brakers, front wheel bearings, carburetor, and installed a Custom Auto Sound head unit.
