My brother got the 1961 ragtop VW bug when I was 14. When I turned 16 he gave me the bug. We than painted it and replaced the upholstery (jbugs). I drove it around in high school and loved it. After high school I went on to other things so the bug sat out in the weather for 20 years. Because the bug was from my brother and I had lost him, I would not give it up even though I was not using it. Three years ago I was at a point where I wanted to restore the bug. My son was 14 and want to help. For the last three years we have done a complete rebuild (99% with jbugs parts). Just this month the majority of the work is completed and it went to its first car show. It looks great, drives great and is a great reminder of my brother.
