The replacement Pertronix Flame Thrower SVDA vacuum canister can be used with any Pertronix replacement VW SVDA Flamethrower distributor to replace a damaged, leaking or dried out diaphragm. This is a direct replacement for the D186504, D7182504 & D189504 Pertronix SVDA VW distributors.

Our Expert's Take:

If you find the vacuum advance canisters "wearing out" or going bad regularly, run your vacuum hose vertically, above the vacuum port before running it down to the vacuum can. Fumes and occasionally fuel will drain into the vacuum can and will dry out and damage the rubber diaphragm in the canister causing premature damage. This is why VW used a "Shepherds Hook" on the vacuum line originally. It is even more crucial now with the high ethanol content in fuel today.
