1969 Baja Bug

Terry Smith

Volkswagens have always been in my family in one way or another. Growing up as a kid my uncle always had them, from Bugs to Buses to Ghias. This Bug is a 1969 that was given to me by a very close friend. It was wrecked in the front end pretty badly and he wasn’t interested in it.

I decided I couldn’t just see it sit there any longer. So I decided since I was into the four wheeling type of stuff and off road, it would be fun to build a Baja. So I started tearing into it and ordering parts. In the meantime, I was also trying to run my business, so after about two and half years we finally got her done. I completed this car back in 1998 and have had it in multiple shows and brought home many awards with it. I am proud to say that I still own it and that it still looks like this today.
