The VW o2 or Oxygen Sensor is an integral part of the fuel injection system. A failed or faulty o2 sensor can cause a number of issues from poor fuel mileage to hesitation and hard starting. The replacement oxygen sensor is a factory replacement, 3 wire unit with the original style plug in connections. The o2 sensor fits 1986 through 1991 Vanagons and Syncros.
