If you're tired of your aftermarket aluminum wheels, looking for a cost-effective way to get back to that stock style, or just need a spare, look no further. These stock style slotted VW wheels look great and won't break the bank. They are set up for a 5x205mm bolt pattern. These wheels accept the early ('54-65) dome style hubcaps used on Type 1s and 2s, as well as the "flat" caps found on '66-67 Type 1s.

These wheels will work with any of the 15" tire sizes we carry on our site, as well as a variety of other sizes, depending on the vehicle model and application. Our 165R15 tires are the closest tire size available to what was originally offered from the factory (5.60-15).

4.5 Inch or 5.5 Inch Width

The 4.5 inch width is the stock width wheel on Beetles, Karmann Ghias and Type 3s. The 4.5” wheel fits 1954 to 1967 Beetle, 1956 to 1966 Karmann Ghia, 1956 to 1970 Type 2s, and 1962 to 1965 Type 3s with no modification. The backspacing on the 4.5” wheel is 3 3/4”.

The 5.5" wide wheels are 1" wider than the original 15" wheels offered from the factory. The backspacing on the 5.5” wheels is 3 7/8”. This wheel fits 1954 to 1967 Beetles, 1956 to 1966 Karmann Ghias, 1956 to 1970 Type 2s, and 1962 to 1965 Type 3s. Please note, while it is possible to make them work with modifications, these wheels typically do not fit on the rear of a stock Type 2. We have had customers tell us that the 5.5" inch rims are too wide to clear the fenders on a stock ride height bus.

Silver or Chrome Finish

The smoothie wheels are available in silver or chrome finish. The silver painted wheels offer a classic, timeless look for your VW and the versatility to match any style. The chrome smoothies will give your car the distinctive shine to stand out and make a bold statement.

Whichever finish you choose, it is important to note that these are not show quality wheels. More often than not, these wheels leave the manufacturer with scratches, dents and surface imperfections. When cleaning the wheels, test any soaps or chemicals in an inconspicuous area (such as behind the hubcap) to make sure the substance does not discolor the paint.
