Another clutch cable problem solved by AirKewld, their Chassis Inspection Plate Kit installs on the opposite side of the tunnel from the pedal assembly and allows you to replace the clutch cable without removing the pedal assembly. Additionally it gives you access to the inside of the tunnel so you can verify that all the cable tubes are in place and haven't broken loose and it gives you the ability to easily route additional cables, wires, or air lines through the tunnel. Obviously, cutting your tunnel is neccesary, and no, it doesn't weaken the tunnel in any substantial way. We've run the same modification on numerous cars throughout the years including our 1971 Super Beetle restoration and numerous off road race cars that see far more stress to the chassis in a few hours than most cars will in their lifetime. The Chassis Inspection Plate Kit includes an inspection hole cover and 4 self taping screws.
