01009 Ignition Points for VW Distributors

Fits original VW distributors
Triggers spark by momentarily breaking the coil’s ground
Inspect & adjust every 2500-3000 miles
Replace every 10000-15000 miles

The 01009 Ignition points install inside the distributor and open and close as the shaft spins breaking the coils ground momentarily to send the spark to the appropriate spark plug. The ignition points fit original distributors in 1965 through 1967 Beetles and Karmann Ghias, 1964 through 1967 Type 2 Bus models and 1964 through 1967 Type 3s. Mechanical points work in conjuction with the condensor to provide a powerful spark to the plugs.

Note: The listed applications reflect what VW originally equipped. Over the decades, many vehicles may have had their distributors replaced. We highly recommend verifying your current distributor before ordering replacement ignition components.

The point gap should be set to .016". We recommend putting a dab of di-electric grease on the cam follower to ensure long life for the points.
