The heads on the Type 1 Volkswagen engine are secured to the case using sixteen 8mm studs and nuts. The nuts are 10 x 1.5 thread pitch. The nuts are made of steel and sold individually. Sixteen are required per engine. The nut has a 15mm head for use with a socket or wrench so it can be useful for other applications where access for a standard 10x1.5mm nut which has a 17mm head is tight, such as the nose cone bolts on transmission mounts, etc.
