This 215mm Clutch Pressure Plate was manufactured by Sachs in Germany. This Pressure Plate is a diaphragm-style plate and has no collar. It fits 3/1974 through 1975 Type 2 Bus models and early 1983 (through 3/1983) Vanagon 1.9 liter models.
Clutch components (like most things nowadays) are made around the world, by various manufacturers. A German clutch component comes from a German manufacturing company that may have numerous factories around the globe. Regardless of where the part is made, if it is labeled as a German part, it comes from a German company that has manufactured that component at a facility that is owned by them, and it is made to their high standards of quality and fitment.
The VW Clutch Cover or Pressure Plate is the On/Off switch between your manual transmission and engine. The pressure plate engages the clutch disc and engine flywheel. As the pressure plate diaphragm weakens it can cause the clutch to slip leading to a loss of power. Be sure to replace the clutch disc and throw out bearing every time you replace the clutch cover.
