The Left VW Heater Box fits air-cooled Federal Model Vanagons from 1980 through 1983. The heater box will not fit California model VWs as their exhaust systems have different emission controls. The heater box bolts up to bottom of the left cylinder head and connects to the cross over exhaust pipe at the rear of models with catalytic converters or to the left side of the muffler on vehicles without a cat.
