This inner front wheel bearing is a tapered roller style bearing. It is a direct replacement for the ball bearings Volkswagen originally used in their early models, and a huge improvement in terms of durability. The bearing fits 1954 through 1965 Beetle, 1956 through 1965 Karmann Ghia, and 1955 through 1963 Type 2 Bus models (only as an outer wheel bearing). Tapered roller bearings can handle much more stress (both vertical and horizontal force) than ball bearings before they fail, making them much more robust than what VW offered in the 1950s and early '60s. The outer race must be pressed into the brake drum before installing the bearing. Remember to pack the bearings with grease before installation and don't forget to purchase a grease cap and wheel seal if needed.
