1968-73 VW Beetle Bumpers - Turn Signal Front - Single Chrome Rear

  • Single Chrome Turn Signal Bumper (Only made in Single Chrome).
  • Single Chrome Rear Bumper.

The turn signal style bumper accepts the VW of Mexico style bumper mounted turn signals and is single chrome plated as is the rear bumper. The bumpers fit 1968 through 1973 Standard and 1971 through 1973 Super Beetles. The front bumper requires turn signal style bumper brackets.

Spend a few dollars more for a Front Turn Signal and a Triple Chrome Rear Bumper and get a better quality rear bumper.

The Turn Signal Bumper Brackets are sold separately as are the Bumper Mounted Turn Signal Assemblies

Note - If you are relocating your factory turn signals from the bumpers to the fenders, lengthening your factory wiring will most likely be necessary.

Also note that the Mexico style turn signal assemblies are designed for a dual filament bulb with parallel alignment posts. US spec (1157 style bulbs) have offset posts to align the bulb with the correct wire (turn signal to bright filament, running light to low filament). We have used the US spec bulbs in the assemblies for years, using only the lower bulb post to hold the bulb in place. Make sure that you check that the bulb is correctly aligned when first installing it.

Chrome Maintenance and What to Expect:

Chrome plating metal is an electro-plating process that is highly regulated due to the chemicals involved. Chrome products made today don't go through the same preparation & plating procedures they did 60 years ago. Many chemicals contained mercury and cyanide and have been banned for environmental reasons.

  • We highly recommend maintaining any chrome on your vehicle by applying a car wax or detailing spray on a regular basis
  • Consider coating the backside of your bumper with paint or a rust inhibitor.
  • Triple chrome bumpers that are properly maintained and kept in dry, non-salty-air environments will last for years
  • If you don't maintain the chrome and/or your vehicle is exposed to moisture and/or salt, there is a higher chance that you will see rusting and pitting.
  • Single chrome bumpers are economically priced and more succeptible to rusting and pitting
