This mechanical fuel tank sending float connects to the cable-operated fuel gauge system and installs in the top opening of the fuel tank. As fuel is consumed, the float drops and pulls the gauge cable, causing the needle on the fuel gauge to move accordingly. The unit is constructed from durable plastic and is a direct-fit replacement for early Volkswagen models. The sending unit seal (P/N 111-135) must be purchased separately.
Please Note: This sending unit will work on 1961 Beetle fuel tanks, but it was not standard equipment from VW until the following model year. 1962 is the first year a fuel gauge was standard equipment in the Beetle from the factory.
