The VW Headlight Switch clips into the dash and features a rocker switch for the running and headlights as well as a rheostat knob. The headlight rocker switch has 3 positions (off / parking-running lights / headlights-running lights) the rheostat control works at the second or third position to dim or brighten the dash lights. The headlight switch fits 1973 through 1976 Super Beetles & 1973 through 1979 Super Beetle Convertibles.
the current Super Beetle headlight switch does not use the "x" terminal. You can tape off or trace the wire back to the ignition switch and remove the wire from the harness. The "x" terminal originally was used so the headlights would not turn on unless the key was turned on.
