Heavy-Duty Left Side Floor Pan for 1956-1974 Karmann Ghia & 1973-1974 VW Thing
- Made in Europe by original VW suppliers
- 0.050" (18 Gauge) thick sheet metal
- Does not include seat rails; reuse your existing rails
These heavy-duty floor pans are made in Europe by original VW suppliers and are designed to fit the Left (driver) side of 1956 through 1974 Karmann Ghias and 1973 & 1974 VW Things. Please note that the floor pans do not include seat rails; you will need to cut out and reuse your existing rails as they are not made new. The floor pans must be welded to the chassis and are stamped from solid metal, guaranteed to fit.
Please Note: Currently, the floor pans come from different manufacturers, so the right and left sides are not the same pressings. The right side has the groove for the front floor vent heater cable, and the mounting holes will need to be drilled. Additionally, the rear corners and edges may need to be slit as shown in the pictures.
Product Fitment
- 1956-1974 Karmann Ghia (left side)
- 1973-1974 VW Thing (left side)
Installation Notes
Your original seat rails must be cut off of your original pan and welded to the new floor pan. A replacement pan to body seal and floor pan hardware are recommended whenever installing new floor pans.
Notes on Sheet Metal:
- Virtually all sheet metal parts are sent with a black, sprayed-on, rust inhibitor. This is NOT a paint or a primer. The black paint that comes on most sheet metal items must be removed before applying primer to the sheet metal.
- Expect scratches, minor dents, dings, and imperfections. These are considered normal. You will likely have to perform minor body work on any aftermarket sheet metal during the installation and restoration process. This is a universal issue across the entire classic car industry due to the nature of the product.
- Large dents would be considered excessive damage. All sheet metal is carefully inspected prior to shipping for any major dents. Any sheet metal that is received dented must be presented to the shipping carrier for a damage claim, regardless of the condition of the box.
- Test fit the all sheet metal before painting. Once body work or paint work has been done to any sheet metal item, it can't be returned! There are no exceptions!
Test fitting your seats before installation insures that you don't do twice the work! Seats, floor pans, and even the chassis could have been swapped so make sure your test fit your seat to the floor pan before installing it.
