EMPI’s 3 Piece Billet Aluminum Pulley features all aluminum construction for light weight and strength. The aluminum pulley is CNC milled and requires specialty shims to adjust the belt tension and a specialty nut and washer (or an original nut and washer) to secure the pulley to your alternator or generator. The 12 volt all aluminum pulley fits 1967 through 1977 Standard Beetles, 1971 through 1979 Super Beetles, 1967 through 1974 Karmann Ghias, 1967 through 1971 Type 2 Bus models and 1973 through 1974 Things.
Please Note: This pulley requires the use of billet shims. The stock shims will not work. Square billet shims can be found here.
The outer diameter of this pulley is roughly 4.25"/108mm. Coupled with a standard crank pulley with an outer diameter of 7"/177mm the pulley ratio would be approximately 1 to 1.64, meaning the fan will turn 1.64 times every time the cranks makes one full revolution which is very close to the factory ratio.

Remember to always use 10 5 Shims.
When installing billet pulley shims, which are thicker than the stock shims, you must use all 5 shims total to achieve proper spacing. Shims can be moved from either inside or outside. Inside: Moving shims inside spaces pulley halves and loosens belt.
Outside: Moving shims outside closes halves together and tightens belt.
