Type 2 Headliner
1968-71 Bus Transporter
Our Headliners include complete factory coverage, including matching pieces that cover the sides.True to the original design and allow for window cut-outs.
All VW Bus Headliners are custom made and generally take 3 weeks in production. We do NOT stock them simply because there are hundreds of combinations when you consider all color, material, year, and configuration options available. We thank you for your patience as your headliner is made just for you.
Rot & Sag Resistant Stitching.
It's the stitching that's the key. When it rots and stretches, down comes the headliner. TMI uses anti-microbial treated thread which resist mildew and rot, but more importantly..... our Headliners remain tight and stay up. We manufacturer both cloth and vinyl headliners with our rot-resistant stitching.
Additional Headliner Accessories.
Don't forget to order our headliner insulation kit. Our Interior Restoration Video is absolutely necessary to help YOU install your headliner just like the pros. The Video spends 45 minutes showing you every step necessary for headliner installation on a beetle- but the principles are similar for buses. Restoration video can be ordered below.
Use "Quart Can" of glue for installation. This is the best adhesive available for vinyl headliners.Mohair and Velour Headliners Use "Spray Glue" for headliner installation. Use sparingly as too much will
saturate through the material. Both Glues can be ordered below.
If you are cutting out your old window seals you will need to replace them with new seals.Look closely and you will notice the headliner tucks under the window seals. If you can press out the old rubber seals you may re-use them. If you are not comfortable doing this be sure to order new seal to install after the headliner is done.
