The VW Bus / Type 2 Gas Tank fits 1973.5-1974 (from chassis 2132138901) models and 1975 through 1979 models that have been converted to carburetor. The Bus gas tank uses the carbureted style fuel tap and intake filter at the bottom threaded outlet. Not for use with fuel injection engine. The fuel tank accepts the original filler neck and sending unit. The tank is sold separately from all the accessories, some of which can be added above.

Fuel Tanks should be thoroughly cleaned before installation. Some tanks are lined with cosmoline which can be cleaned out with MEK (Methyl-Ethyl-Ketone), Acetone or a similar solvent. Even if the tank is not lined, it is still important to clean out the tank. Manufacturing debris can clog your fuel lines, carburetor or fuel system!
