This tie rod set is designed for ball joint beams with the large tie rod ends used from May 1968 onward.

Note: Volkswagen began using larger tie rod ends in May of 1968. If you have your original tie rods on hand, the easiest way to determine whether you have an early '68 or later '68 is to measure the nut of the tie rod end. If it is a 17mm nut, you have 1965 to April 1968 tie rods. If it is a 19mm nut at the end, it is a late '68 model and needs the later style tie rod ends.
