The 2" Narrowed Ball Joint Beam with Ratchet Style Adjusters is the solution to front tire clearance issues when lowering your vehicle, using disc brake conversions, negative wheel offset, or wider wheels and tires. Installing this beam will lower your Volkswagen roughly 2" at the highest setting and can be adjusted further to a total of about 6" of drop at the lowest setting. The beam fits Standard Beetles 1966 to 1977 and Karmann Ghias 1966 to 1974.
2 Sets of narrowed leaves (P/N: 22-2852) and narrowed tie rods (P/N: 22-2853) are required.
Our Expert's Take:
The replacement front beam Zerk Grease Fitting threads in the beam
have 5/16-18 threads. We don't know why the manufacturer chose this
thread size as we can not locate a Zerk fitting to fit. We have
successfully used (threaded them in by hand until they stop, then turned
them a quarter turn with a wrench) 5/16-24 & 8x1.25mm Zerk
fittings. Is this ideal, not at all, but the only other solution would
be to retap the beam threads to a different size.
