EMPI 5x205Bolt-On Rear Disc Brake Kit with Parking Brake
- Bolt-on installation
- Parking brake-equipped calipers
- Zero offset brake rotors
- VW 5x205 lug pattern
- Fits pre 1967 swing axle transmissions
This disc brake kit will give your classic VW the stopping power of modern brake technology. The disc brake kit includes 5x205 brake rotors, calipers, pads, parking brake cables, mounting hardware, gaskets and instructions. You can choose from stamped steel or heavy-duty cast steel caliper brackets to mount the calipers to the axle housing. We recommend installing a large bore master cylinder when installing rear disc brakes because of the distance from the master cylinder and the larger diameter of the brake pistons in the calipers versus wheel cylinders.
Product Fitment
- 1958-1967 Beetle (swing axle)
- 1958-1967 Karmann Ghia (swing axle)
Kit Includes
- 5x205 lug pattern brake rotors with 12x1.5 threads
- Stamped or cast caliper brackets
- Brake calipers and pads
- Parking brake cables
- Mounting hardware and instructions
Installation Notes
- All brake parts must be thoroughly cleaned, and disc brake grease should be applied to all brake pad contact surfaces to prevent squeaks and vibrations.
- 15" or larger wheels are required. 14" wheels cannot be used.
- A large bore master cylinder is recommended for rear disc brake conversions.
For easier brake bleeding, consider adding quick bleeder valves to your order.

Our Expert's Take:
Rear Disc Brakes are the perfect complement to front disc brakes for those looking for the ultimate in stopping power for their VW. The parking brake equipped rear disc brakes also offer additional stopping power for those that want the extra insurance and performance that disc brakes offer. We recommend using a large bore master cylinder whenever installing rear disc brakes, regardless of whether or not you have front disc brakes.
