EMPI's bolt-on disc brake kit converts 1968 through 1970 Type 2 Bus models from drum to disc brakes. The kit features heavy duty brake caliper brackets that bolt directly to your stock spindles and a 5x205mm disc brake rotor that accepts the stock 14x1.5mm lug bolts. A new master cylinder with reservoir, front brake hoses, bearings, seals, grease caps, a residual pressure valve and all necessary installation hardware including Loctite and wheel studs if you are not running stock wheels. The EMPI Type 2 Disc Brake Conversion Kit will clear stock Bus 14" VW wheels, and most all stock and aftermarket 15" and larger wide 5 VW wheels. Some cap clearancing may be needed on aftermarket wheels. The disc brake conversion kit will narrow the front track width 2.8mm. The master cylinder does not have a residual pressure valve so the kit includes an inline check valve and a brake line to be used for the rear drum brakes.
