To install Disc Brake Drop Spindles on 1966, 1967 and early 1968 models, 1968.5 and later inner wheel seals, inner wheel bearings and outer tie rod ends must be used. We've made swapping to the spindles easy and included those parts in a kit along with the EMPI Ball Joint, Disc Brake Drop Spindles. The disc brake drop spindles are brand new units, not re-manufactured old cores and they are CNC machined to exact tolerances. These forged drop spindles have a 1/4" outside offset so tire and wheel clearance isn't typically an issue. The drop spindles are made for 4-lug VW (4x130) and 5-Lug Porsche (5x130) disc brake rotors. These spindles are the first step to a brake system upgrade while giving you the built-in 2 1/2" lower stance just by bolting them on. These drop spindles are made for use with stock shocks. The disc brake drop spindles will fit all Type 1 (Beetle and Karmann Ghia 1966 through 1977) Ball Joint Front Ends.

Please Note: Drop Spindles are not compatible with Super Beetles.

• VW drop spindles - 2 1/2" for ball joint disc brake front ends (4x130 & 5x130)
• Left outer tie rod end (left-hand thread)
• Outer right tie rod end
• Bearing and seal kit for front

Tire compatibility:

Drop spindles require shorter, smaller-diameter tires to prevent rubbing. While stock tires may seem to fit when parked, they will rub during normal driving, particularly with heavier loads. For the best results, use the recommended tire sizes to avoid clearance issues.
