The Stock Length (11.078") VW Pushrod is now only available in Chromoly Steel. If you are using Chromoly Pushrods you must set your valves at "zero" lash. Meaning tighten the adjuster until the rocker does not move and the pushrod spins freely. The 11.078" stock length pushrod fits 1300, 1500 and 1600cc based engines in 1966 through 1977 Standard Beetles, 1971 through 1979 Super Beetles, 1966 through 1974 Karmann Ghias, 1963 through 1971 Type 2 Bus models, 1962 through 1973 Type 3s and 1973 through 1974 Things.

Note: When using chromoly steel pushrods the intake and exhaust valve gap must be set to "0" lash. Tighten the valve adjustment screw until the rocker has no play and the pushrod still spins.

Our Expert's Take:

These pushrods are made of Chromoly steel rather than Aluminum like the originals. The .006 lash was implemented to allow the Aluminum to expand when hot to become zero. Chromoly does not expand under heat the way Aluminum does, therefor the lash is zero rather than .006.
